Boundary-setting conversations and apologies

Course Objectives

This workshop, delivered by the Office of the United Nations Ombudsman and Mediation Services, will review the notion of boundaries, what makes for healthy boundaries and what we can do when we feel our boundaries have been crossed.

During the workshop, participants will explore how to say ‘no’ in a constructive way without bruising relationships, as well as how to apologize effectively when they have stepped over another person’s boundaries.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand:

  • the boundaries;
  • how to establish healthy boundaries through respectful communication;
  • what we can do when we feel our boundaries have been crossed;
  • how to apologize with sincerity and grace when you have crossed someone else's boundaries.
