Course Objectives
The United Nations faces unique and evolving challenges in delivering on increasingly complex mandates. To effectively deal with these challenges, hiring managers are expected to identify best candidates to recruit for their Job Openings in the most efficient and effective way. The Test Development workshop aims to assist hiring managers with developing and administering selection tests for their Job Openings (at any level, regardless of volume of applications).
The workshop consists of two parts:
- Part I will cover basic concepts of test development (e.g., validity, reliability, and fairness) and provides an overview of existing tools and options for test development, administration, and scoring applicable to the United Nations context.
- Part II will focus on how to create effective test items in various formats such as multiple choice questions and constructed response items (also known as written assessments) for technical and non-technical tests. In this part, participants will also be encouraged to work in groups to draft items in various formats for one of their current or anticipated Job Openings and will be provided detailed feedback on their items.
