Course Objectives
You cannot predict when an emergency may occur, but you can decide not to be a helpless witness. First aid training gives you the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to an emergency, but more importantly the confidence to act when needed. In some situations, the first few minutes are crucial. Being there to help and knowing what to do can mean the difference between life and death.
This 1.5-hour practical workshop is designed to enable you to review and practise life-saving actions to assist victims in life-threatening situations, until help arrives.
By the end of this workshop, you will have reviewed how to:
- assess a victim's state of consciousness and place them in the recovery position;
- perform chest compressions and use a defibrillator;
- perform the manoeuvres on adults and children in the event of choking;
- recognise the most common symptoms of a stroke and act quickly;
- alert people inside and outside the UN.
Target audience
All UN staff
Remarks
This training can be also organised at the request of a manager, i.e. to make it a team theme and not only a training for individuals.
