Competency-based Selection and Interviewing Skills for Panel Members

Course Objectives

Competency-based interviewing (CBI) is a style of interviewing in which a job candidate’s competence is assessed through eliciting information about past experiences and the behaviour and skills used. It is the standard style of interviewing at the United Nations Secretariat.

It is mandatory for all panel members to complete CBI training before they participate on a panel.

At the end of this online training, you will have:

  • Gained a thorough understanding of competency-based interviewing;
  • Understood your role as panel member;
  • Learned how to formulate appropriate interview questions;
  • Accessed useful templates.

To access the CBI for Panel Members module, make sure you have completed the following steps:

1. Subscribed to the full Blue Line Catalogue via the UN Secretariat Subscription to Blue Line. This will ensure you get access to the CBI module without being charged.

2. Login credentials to the Blue Line:
