At the end of this course, you will be able to:

• master basic pronunciation: pinyin (the official romanization system for Standard Chinese) and four tones
• recognize and write about 60 new characters and use the everyday words that they form
• introduce yourself and someone else using basic greeting expressions and simple polite forms
• give simple information about yourself (nationality, languages spoken, etc.); ask and respond to questions
• identify a person or an object
• count from 0 to 99
• understand very short and simple texts
