Chinese is one of the six official languages of the United Nations.

We offer a variety of in-person and online courses, all tutor-led, intended for non-native Chinese speakers who want to acquire Chinese language skills to communicate within the multilingual and multicultural community of the United Nations.

Our general courses cover levels UN I and  UN II. We also offer specialized courses at different levels to develop both Chinese cultural competence and language proficiency for successful communication in various social and professional contexts.

Summer Study Programme in China

Since 2004, the UN Chinese Language Programme has regularly offered an intensive three-week summer study programme at Nanjing University in China.

All the students who have studied and completed at least 60 learning hours at the officially recognized Chinese classes offered at UNHQ and other UN duty stations are eligible to apply. Application information will be sent to learners entitled to enrol during the winter term each year.
