Peter Sonerell brings over 25 years of international HR and people management experience. He is currently People Development Specialist in UNDP's Office of Human Resources, Talent Development Unit, where he leads global career and skills initiatives supporting more than 22,000 personnel across 170 countries.
Since joining UNDP in 2012, Peter has held leadership roles at headquarters and in the field — including as Head of HR in Somalia and Afghanistan — navigating large-scale organizational change, major transitions, and workforce transformation across diverse and complex environments.
In this session, Peter shares his personal story of taking ownership of his career: embracing change, staying curious, and finding ways to keep himself and others engaged — even in the most demanding contexts. He holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Liverpool.
