Claudia Barberis

Claudia Barberis is the Chief of the Human Resources Management Section at UNCTAD in Geneva, Switzerland.  She has more than 30 years of professional experience in the UN system and the private sector, having worked in various areas including executive management, human resources,  administration, and marketing & sales.
Her initial experience with the UN system began in 1991 in Vienna, Austria having worked with UNIDO and UNDP.  In 1997 she joined the United Nations Secretariat in New York in the Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM) after successfully passing the National Competitive Examination (NCE) in Administration.  She has since held positions in different Departments of the UN Secretariat including in the field with the Peacekeeping operation in Bujumbura, Burundi.
During her early career in the private sector, Ms. Barberis held positions in Vienna, Austria and Quito, Ecuador providing her with broad experience in advertising, marketing, sales, and strategic communication.
Ms. Barberis holds a master’s degree as Commercial Engineer and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), Quito, Ecuador.
