First Aid Awareness Training for Wardens

warden-first-aid-image

This 90-minute first aid training is intended for future Wardens of the Palais des Nations. Offered in both French and English, it is part of the mandatory training requirements—alongside the courses provided by the UN Safety and Security Service—for obtaining the Warden certification.

Delivered by healthcare professionals from the UN Medical Service in Geneva, the aim of this training is to provide future Wardens with essential first aid skills, enabling them to assess a situation and respond effectively during the very first minutes of a medical emergency (cardiac arrest, choking, etc.).

In addition to theoretical input, the training also includes practical workshops covering the main first aid techniques.
We look forward to seeing you there and working together to make the Palais des Nations an even safer place!

Objectives:

At the end of the training, participants should be able to:

  • Familiarize themselves with the emergency response chain at the Palais des Nations and act accordingly.
  • Correctly raise the emergency alarm by calling the Security Operation Centre (SOC) at the Palais des Nations.
  • Identify a cardiac arrest
  • Understand that without assistance, a person in cardiac arrest may die within minutes.
  • Recognize an unconscious victim and a brain stroke.
  • Perform chest compressions.
  • Know where AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) are located at the Palais des Nations and use them correctly, if needed.
  • Know the correct steps to follow when someone is choking.
  • Develop their skills and competencies by following more advanced courses available at UNOG (such as “How to Save a Life” training).
