Micheal Conneely

Micheal has more than 25 years of experience in management and leadership roles, with a HR thread running throughout. He took up his role as Director, Human Resource Management at UNIDO in January 2024 having previously served as the Head of HR at the Organization for Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) from 2022 to 2024. 

Prior to OPCW, Micheal working in a number of management roles at the Organization for Security & Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), firstly in the OSCE Mission in Bosnia & Herzegovina from 2012 to 2015, and subsequently at its Secretariat in Vienna from 2015 to 20233 where he held positions of Deputy Director, Human Resources  and Director (interim), Human Resources.  

Prior to his work with International Organizations, Micheal spent the first 20 years of his career with the Irish Defence Forces, serving in a range of  roles in Ireland,  the Middle East and Europe. 

Micheal ’s graduate and post graduate education has been in the areas of Leadership, Strategic HR Management, Organizational Behaviour and Organizational Development. He holds a Masters degree in Management from the Michael Smurfit Business School, University College Dublin, a Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management from University College Galway as well as a number of other management programmes and certifications. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
