Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abuse by United Nations Personnel - Working Harmoniously

Course Objectives

Do you sometimes have challenging conversations with colleagues? Have you witnessed or experienced conduct that seemed inappropriate in the work environment?

The new mandatory online course “Prevention of Sexual Harassment and Abuse by United Nations Personnel — Working Harmoniously” replaces the previous “Prevention of Harassment, Sexual Harassment and Abuse of Authority in the Workplace – LMS-1116” course.

As a staff member or manager, you can develop strategies to prevent prohibited conduct and create a harmonious work environment.

The objectives of the course are the following:

  1. How to promptly address unwelcome or prohibited behaviors, whether you are personally involved or a witness to them, by exploring several work-related scenarios: e.g. a group of men who regularly joke about women; a supervisor who makes a sexual proposition to a supervisee; a manager who verbally abuses a staff member in a public meeting.
  2. The cost and impact of ignoring unwelcome or prohibited conduct.
  3. The unique role and responsibility of managers to create a harmonious environment, including guidelines on what to do when somebody approaches you with a problem, good listening tips, the formal and informal process and how to manage misconduct
