How to moderate panel discussions (eWorkshop)

Course Objectives

The objective of the eWorkshop is to provide you with tips and techniques that professional moderators use in order to moderate informative and engaging panel discussions. During the eWorkshop you will discover what makes an excellent moderator, their role and responsibilities and how to manage nerves and build confidence.

By the end of the eWorkshop, participants will be able to:

  • Effectively prepare for a panel discussion;
  • Structure different panel discussion formats;
  • Open and close with impact;
  • Stimulate a lively and engaging discussion;
  • Handle challenging panelists and audiences;
  • Keep a panel to time and on track;
  • Moderate with confidence and conviction.


The eWorkshop consists of 3 webinars, two of them for 1 hour 30 and the third for 2 hours 15 minutes. The first two webinars take participants through the 10 steps of successful preparation, with a series of interactive and practical exercises. The third webinar is a role-play scenario where everyone will have the opportunity to moderate a panel remotely.

The webinars will be held over a period of 7 to 10 days, with participants asked to do some limited preparation between sessions.
